The new Pinewood Child and Family Hub is a considered redevelopment of the Pinewood Kindergarten and Maternal Health Centre. Located on the corner of Pinewood Reserve, the landscaping of the Hub has been designed to flow into the park, creating an open and inviting community space.
Designed by architects AOA – Christopher Peck, the project was completed for handover in February of 2023. Inside, vaulted ceilings provide a feeling of space and openness which contributes to the playful nature and feeling of the early learning centre.
The seamless transition from inside to outside allows a natural indoor-outdoor flow between classrooms, nature and other facilities within the community hub.
The choice of materials lends itself to a warm, inviting space – but most notable is the sparing use of timber, only for internal applications. Outside, aluminium cladding and composite decking ensure the family hub will continue to look great for years to come, without significant maintenance costs.
Installed by Bobby’s Building Services, Ekodeck Designer Series composite decking makes for quick & easy installation using Quickfix concealed fastening system for decking.
The multiple m-type roofs are a striking feature of the kindergarten rooms, with the soft timber battening transitioning the interior to the outside veranda and enclosed play area. The garden and landscaping features a selection of native flora to ensure the gardens remain hardy and drought tolerant, seamlessly blending into the landscape surrounding the striking new build.
With a focus on creating a green and open community space, and the emphasis on timber tones throughout the development, Ekodeck’s Designer Series Decking in Leatherwood was the perfect choice for the veranda.
